My life right now is genuinely chaotic. We’re mid-renovation, I run two businesses, I have two kids, and we recently got a Border Collie puppy who needs a job every waking minute. If you know anything about Border Collies, they’re working dogs wired to herd sheep from sunrise to sunset. At three and a half months old, he is full noise, all day long.
And yet, this is the year my business is running better than ever.
Because I’ve built differently.
Automations Before AI
If you’re spending hours in ChatGPT or Claude and it’s not generating real revenue, that’s worth sitting with. Most of the time online business owners spend messing about in AI tools is costing them more than it’s making them. It feels productive. It rarely is.
Automations are a different story. I run what I call a cascade funnel. One automated email sequence finishes, flows into the next, all tag-based, built once. It keeps running whether I’m at my desk or walking the dog. Building one new piece of that system each week has done more for my business consistency this year than anything else. Once it’s done, it’s done, and it keeps showing up for your audience even when life gets full.
I use Kartra to hold all of it together. CRM, webinar software, page builder, course portals, checkouts, tagging. All in one place, since 2018, and I’m still sold on it. You can read more about why I use Kartra and how it stacks up in my Kartra vs Kajabi breakdown.
The Rolling and Regulated Funnel
I’ve run the same workshop three times now and I’m refining and running it again. Not everything works perfectly on the first go, and the pressure we put on ourselves to have it do so is largely self-imposed. Each run gives me data. I adjust, improve, and go again.
The women inside Peace and Profit are watching this happen in real time. What I’m changing, what the numbers are telling me, how I think about the next iteration. That kind of transparency is something I care deeply about, because building differently means being honest about the process, not just celebrating the results.
What I love about this model is that it works from my phone. Revenue doesn’t require me to be chained to a desk.
Simple Systems That Remove You as the Bottleneck
I record this podcast on my phone with a portable RODE mic, from wherever I happen to be. The pool room, the car, it doesn’t matter. I DM the file to my assistant on Slack and she handles the rest. When a webinar wraps, I tell her it’s done and walk away. She has step-by-step SOPs for everything that follows.
I also made a deliberate decision to stop producing the podcast as a video show. I don’t watch podcasts on YouTube. Neither does my audience. So I opted out of that expectation and focused on what actually moves the needle: consistent, quality audio that I can produce without disrupting my life.
You do not need a big team to run a tight operation. You need clarity about what needs to happen and documentation someone else can follow.
The Bigger Picture
There are two paths available to you as an online business owner. One leads to a big team, high expenses, and constant pressure. The other leads to a business that generates real revenue and still leaves room for your actual life. The women inside Peace and Profit have chosen the second one, not because they aren’t ambitious, but because they know what they actually want.
If you want to see how the funnels, workshops, and launches work behind the scenes, my next workshop is where it all lives. No replay, limited spots.
